Beach Homes along the Atlantic Coast have great potential for increasing their curb appeal. Curb appeal should be aesthetically pleasing, add a hint of personality and provide a function. This can also increase your rental fees and create a noticeable landscaping improvement and differentiate your home from neighboring cookie cutter landscaping.
Beach Home lots are generally smaller in size than city lots, so maximizing the space is key for homeowners or rentals, getting the most out of your land and investment.
The plant bed in front of the beach home receives hot afternoon sun and contains only plant material. I see great potential in adding a:
- Small pergola to shade the plant bed and provide an area to hang bird feeders and wind chimes
- A semi-formal water feature (reason being, the space in only 12 feet by 10 feet).
- A shaded seating wall under the proposed pergola to enjoy the new water feature. The wall would provide additional year round seating on the property and compliment the home by utilizing stucco and the colors used on the house.
- Plant material in this central plant bed would be limited and only require smaller plants. It is not encouraged to install plants attracting bees for personal safety.
- Installing low-level lights, illuminating the water feature in the evening hours and creating a usable ambiance outside of the home
- Adding personal touches, like a sign adhered to the front side of pergola with the name of the home
